Best recoil control

I'm putting together a rifle for hitting the range, and I can’t help but wonder about the best options for keeping the recoil under control in our neck of the woods. Do you think compensators and brakes handle the humid air differently? And what about the local ammo brands? Just curious if that makes a difference.
