Had a chance to hit the water last weekend over near Hilo. I was aiming for some local omilu, and let me tell you, the bite was decent! Water was a bit choppy, but that didn't stop us. Used some live shrimp on a light jig head, and right around noon, I finally hooked into a nice one. Lost another good-sized fish just a few minutes later — my fault for not keeping my line tight. Fished with a buddy who was a riot; he kept forgetting where he left his tackle. It was a solid day, even though we went home with only one fish in the cooler. How's everyone else doing? Any luck out there this year?
