looking for simple fishing setups for my little one

I’m pretty new to fishing and thinking about taking my 5-year-old out for the first time. I spotted some kids' fishing rods at a store recently and it got me wondering if that’s a decent option for beginners. I know nothing about fishing gear, so I’m hoping to hear what setups other parents use for simple outings. Just looking for something easy and fun that we can do together. Any advice on what to bring or how to get started?
